Sunny Saturday

Today I start with a picture of my beautiful boy Charlie - he's gorgeous - Thursday night we shut him in the caravan - by accident I hasten to add! We didn't notice until the following afternoon and my E told me I had to go and investigate the mess we were sure to find - poor boy - but there was nothing - he must have had his legs crossed!!

I also took apart a necklace on my website - I made it about 8 months ago and decided it needed pulling apart and redoing - last night and this morning I did just that and am pretty pleased with the results

Our garden is now finished - the turf was laid and as promised I have a photo for you !

Now I'm going to tidy up my guestbook where I'm being spammed by some horrendous things :( SO if anyone fancies going and putting a nice post I'd be eternally grateful I hate sifting through filth and finding a post to make me smile would make my day!

More netting

Here is another necklace I made during the week. Light green with white Toho beads with Czech faceted glassbeads in the middle. Must be very nice on tanned skin, so fashionable in summer.

Sun!

There's something shining in the sky, is it a bird, is it a plane nooooooooooooooooo its the sun !!!!! Its been so long we weren't sure what it was but I needed my sunglasses - maybe I was turning into a mole! It sure seems bright :D After I have finished my post of the day I'm going to sit on my swing seat which I've only ever spent about 5 mins on since we got it (4 weeks ago!!)

My daughter who is nearly six ( next month) is home from school today - an inset day I think they are now called so we are having a very lazy day at home - I've played a little with my beads this morning but it sort of proves its going to be difficult during the summer holidays when she is home all the time so I will apologise now for being slack - but then you never know I may be ultra good and keep you all up to date!!!!

SOLD

Remember if you see anything on my blog you like but can't find it on my website then send me an email jo@gemheaven.co.uk and I can send you all the information - I'm going to be holding pieces back - depending on whats selling and what not but of course you all get to see what I am creating day by day!!

Now go and enjoy the sun :)

Rubies: Divinely Decadent

Rubies are one of my favourite gemstones. Rubies conjure visions of long-ago India, beautiful dark-haired women in colourful saris trimmed lavishly in gold, their ears and arms heavy with golden jewelry made of rubies and other precious gemstones...corpulent Eastern kings who leer at dancing girls, rubies and diamonds flashing on every finger...exotic courtesans who live only to be beautiful and to please...
But rubies are also a modern favourite; the ruby is the July birthstone and one of the three precious gemstones other than diamonds (the other two are emerald and sapphire). I love to work with rubies although I am limited somewhat by price. However, the natural rubies that you see on this page were all fairly inexpensive, as rubies go. Although I do have some gem-quality rubies on the Cluny Grey Jewelry website, I decided to feature these natural rubies today.

The top photo is a close-up of a
ruby bracelet made of the natural rubies, sterling silver, and one wonderful borosilicate lampwork bead by Frozenfyre. You can see the full bracelet in the picture below. Above is a simple draped chain and ruby necklace of sterling silver with the natural rubies holding everything together.

The last bracelet is a handcrafted chain from the Karen Hill Tribes doubled with a toggle clasp and ruby charms. A very simple bracelet that can be worn everyday, these natural rubies are also a dark maroon/burgundy colour that can go with many different clothing colours.
Happy Birthday to you July babies!

Creativity

SOLD

Creativity for me is when an idea flashes into my head and I have to go do something about it! It doesn't choose its times wisely, in the supermarket, just as I'm drifting of into a beautiful sleep or even when I'm in the middle of something and its JUST not a conveniant time ;0)

Where does the creativity come from? - who knows - I was told I had a muse - a lady from the other side - who inspires me but who adores Egyptian jewellery - funny though because I never use gold but the blue bit is right - I adore blue - in fact I have a blue set of lampwork waiting for me!!! ( and another set on the way .... oh and another set reserved!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

SOLD

Where does your creativity come from??

New display

I took one week holidays, and my brother came from Germany. We spent all the days at the beach. He left very early this morning, so today and tomorrow I'm at home, before going back to work.
I went downtown shopping, and found a small necklace display very cheap. They had only this small one in black, but they will bring larger displays and in white as well. In the meantime I bought this, and tried it out with the Atlantis choker.
I definitely need a bigger display later on, as this picture might give the wrong idea how big or small the choker really is...

Wet Sunday

SOLD
Makes a change me talking about the weather and I know you will miss it if I don't talk about the rain!! ;0)

Last night we watched the fabulous fireworks after the end of Feast Saturday in Mevagissey but the weather was such a let down - we popped down from my Grans house to get some chips ( typical feast tea lol)and the carnival was still going on - those poor brave children walking in the, not only wet but, torrential rain - I have to admit I was close to tears when I saw them coming round the corner - amazing how everyone pulls together!!

The bracelet above is a commission to match the necklace - Moon Daisy

SOLD

This one is called Peacocks Ore and is labrodite and silver - again another commission - isn't it beautiful - I loved it so much I made myself one!!

Today we took my Mum and Nan to Truro for lunch (My dad was playing golf) and my lovely hubby bought me some gorgeous shoes - amazing thing was I tried them on in the shop and told him how much I loved them - then I put them back as I can't afford to spend money at the moment I'm saving to go to London but he popped back to buy them for me - a huge surprise - love him :D
