My Eyes continued...

Watersnake

I know its boring - the saga of my eyes but after the lovely comments and emails I had I thought you may wish to hear I have been!! I have been tested and ..................................................yes...............I need glasses!! No surprise there then ;) I have picked out some sexy black rimmed ones but as its only for close up work I shan't really be showing them off - unless you all want a pic?? Also my darling Elli needs them for th complete opposite reason - she needs them to see the white board (opposite to black board!!) so they are making her little bi-focals - and they look so cute on her!!
Watersnake Earrings
It was actually ok - the test and everything but its scary when you see how far your eyes have deteriorated although apparently for 10 years (yep thats how long I went in between) its not bad just .5 but I could really see a difference - do you think it will make a difference to my work??

Where the week went!

What fabulous weather we have been having - ok its not going to last (in the southwest at least) so of course I've been making the most of it! Monday, a bank holiday or May Day as we call it, was really warm and we (the family) went to TRerice, owned now by the National Trust, a beautiful Elizabethan house and gardens. Elli and E even had a go at playing Cornish Kayling - a game of skittles, and ELli tried her hand at brass rubbings. LOts of sunshine and a run around the maze - great fun. Mamma, Gump and Nanny came to - so cups of tea and slices of cake finished off the day!
Of course when the weather is fine my designs tend to turn blue don't they and this one is no exception - named Arethusa after the NYmph who who turned into a fountain - these turquoise briolettes are gorgeous!
This bracelet is named Rioja and is garnet, crystal quartz and bali silver - all wound onto dainty chain for a really slinky feel - I'm working on a kyanite, iolite and moonstone one at the moment and have slightly pink arms from sitting outside this afternoon!!

Two in a row!

I am doing well - two posts in a row!! I have to show you Elli's pasty she made on Saturday - being Cornish we love pastys - lovely beef, potato and turnip with lashings of pepper, a pinch of salt and a knob of butter - all wrapped up in short crust pastry! Elli decided she wanted to make her own - and I was extremly impressed with her heart pasty! She ate the lot to!

Another reason for todays post I wanted to show you something my two fab friends are doing at the moment. Allison Raposa of Msbaubles and Angela Mckenna of AM Designs have both entered into the new volume of the Etsy promo book (see HERE).

TimothyAdamDesigns says: With 140 etsy artists featured in 4 volumes, the handbook to handmade is a small cut of very talented artists from around the world. "the handbook to handmade" is a monthly volume of 36 ETSY artists and their shops...this is a promotional tool that is used to help promote artists and etsy. the first volume was a success, with a great mix of artists from 36 different cities from around the world.

I love Etsy and have bought a few bits and pieces on there - more and more UK artists can be found on there - really there is worth a look - everything from Knitting to canvas's, soaps and pottery! I really hope Allison and Angela get to show us what the finished book looks like with their pages! Allison and Angela both have unique styles which I admire greatly.

The first picture shows the latest silver necklace I have made - simple and sweet with that dark edge ;) and the bracelet is a birthstone commission I had with my customers childrens birthstones - I love the mixture of the stones - peridot, Amethyst and Topaz.

A kiss of Spring

I used the title of my latest piece for this post - today the sun was shining and guess what we actually felt some warmth - mind you, you had to be out of the wind, now that was cold! In fact the children all came out of school asking for their coats off - how funny as soon as the sun shines they want to strip off - really it wasn't that warm!! Maybe being in Cornwall and the South of the UK we feel the warmth sooner, of course sun rises and sets earlier and later then say Scotland but then again we can grow palm trees and other plants that anyone further up (For us Cornish anything over the Tamar {River seperating Cornwall and Devon} is "Up Norf"!! :0D

Now a little about the jewellery - the first bracelet is made from tiny (4 - 5 mm) rounds of primarily, Rose Quartz, Amethyst, Peridot and Aquamarine, with my little 'Kisses' in and amongst the gemstones. It took me quite a few {understatement} to finish her but I'm so happy with the finish look. The second bracelet with Isabelle Andersons beautiful beads and micro faceted rounds of Smokey Quartz with Bali silver.

Enjoy!

Sorry for the waffle I've been shut up in my bead room all day with no food lol - after the amount of cappacinos I drank while in Bath maybe I'm having withdrawals - mmm now which one was best , Browns I think wins - Sunday morning sitting in the sunshine watching the world go by!! The above bracelet is with Isabelle Andersons beads, onyx, and bali silver - the artisan glass beads remind me of rock formations - can you see it???

Swimming in Cool Waters

SOLD

Today is my swim day, today I did my 50 lengths as usual - does anyone who reads this swim?? I want to know why the first 20 are the hardest, thats when my arms ache, I want to stop, its tiring and I want to just float, after that it gets easier and although the 49 is hard and tiring I also have strong arms and feel like I could go on - why is this???

The above bracelet is with Carolines beautiful beads, I don't know if you can see but the colours in the encased beads are from darkest blue to pale and greens, wonderful bali beads and clasp with a crystal quartz rondelle to enhance the clear - funny why I called her Cool Waters!

What a day!

Phew I'm exhausted! My dd who is now six going on 16 (anyone with a 16 yr old is probably shaking their heads lol) threw a huge wobbly like I've never seen before, even when she was two!! I suppose her vocabulary is better but boy she lost it - she even frightened herself - this doesn't bode well for teenage years does it!!

Stormy Seas was definately our house today and this bracelet with Caroline Hannon's beautiful lampwork beads sums it up sort of - I mean today wasn't a thing of beauty yet this bracelet to me is - see I'm so tired I can't even blog straight!Jewellery party season is nearly upon us and I seem to have booked myself a fair few (2>3 a month until Christmas) so you can imagine the urgency for creating and making here! My first party on the 3rd September - and they continue from there so if you see anything you fancy, give me a shout to reserve it for you as hopefully things will begin to move quite fast!!

Today I made Java - another one my muse sent me in a dream - Caroline Hannon's bracelet beads with bali silver and tiny silver seed beads - doesn't she look great!

Summer Rain

Now I bet you can't guess why I named this one Summer rain?? Lol I'm trying to be subtle here!!! If you look closely you will see rose quartz, peridot and grey moonstone nestling amongst the crystal quartz - oh and silver nobbles tooo!!

SOLD

I adore this bracelet and am tempted to keep her so you will have to wait and see if she appears on the website - she won't be going on there until August unless either I or someone else decides to snap her up ;0) Here's another pic just to let you see some more :-

and finally I made some earrings ( Caroline if you are reading this I am waiting for earwires for yours!!) These are named Zebirget as Peridot has been found in Egyptian Jewellery from the early second millennium BC and was mined from the Volcanic island of Zebirget or St. Johns Island, in the Red Sea. So a great name I thought :D

Right I'm off to pretty myself up ready for the hairdressers - can't go to the big Smoke with yukky hair now can I ???

Creativity

SOLD

Creativity for me is when an idea flashes into my head and I have to go do something about it! It doesn't choose its times wisely, in the supermarket, just as I'm drifting of into a beautiful sleep or even when I'm in the middle of something and its JUST not a conveniant time ;0)

Where does the creativity come from? - who knows - I was told I had a muse - a lady from the other side - who inspires me but who adores Egyptian jewellery - funny though because I never use gold but the blue bit is right - I adore blue - in fact I have a blue set of lampwork waiting for me!!! ( and another set on the way .... oh and another set reserved!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

SOLD

Where does your creativity come from??

I have made something for the Sea gems section - this is where everything which is inspired by the sea and beaches around me here in Cornwall.

This one is Rashleigh Pebbles - named after the local village of Charlestown where there is a fabulous pebbley beach - great history here too which I will try and write a bit for the website ...later
